Man Pleaded Not Guilty Over the Shooting and Decapitation of his Grandparents in Oklahoma City

A man who was arrested for shooting and decapitating his grandparents pleaded not guilty to the couple's deaths. The grandson is faced with two murder charges after he brutally killed his grandparents at the home daycare where the three of them living together in Oklahoma City.

According to ABC News, Quinton D. Laster, 20 years old appears for his initial court trial on Thursday. The defendant remains mostly quiet throughout the trial, and spoke only to say his name. Special Judge Russell Hall said, the defendant entered a not guilty plea. Laster is also detained without bail.

Police reported the decapitated bodies of his grandparents, James Earl Reed, 78 and Sharon Reed, 59 years old were discovered inside their home, which is also a daycare in Oklahoma City, USA Today reported. The couple was also shot to death as they were found on Tuesday afternoon. Neighbors called the authorities to check on the welfare of the couple who lived on a home near.

The grandson, Quinton Dashawn Laster was arrested after the police arrived at the said home. Laster was indicted with two counts of first-degree murder. Three children were also rescued, as they were taken care at the old couple's home daycare. Authorities said the three were safe and not hurt as they were found on a covered garage. Laster fully confessed and admitted to shooting his grandparents and later on, cutting their heads off, News Ok reported.

Latrice Benton, the mother of the defendant, said she quickly returned to the said house after her son called her. "I got a phone call from my son, he told me to rush over," she said. Benton said her parents had been married for 28 years and had operated a day care center in their home for more than 20 years. Laster's case is the third time in the past year and a half someone has been charged in Oklahoma with a crime related to a decapitation.
