MMA Fighter João Carvalho’s Death Under Controversy For Legal Killing

The late Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter, João Carvalho, who tragically died after a TKO fight against another opponent in Dublin last Saturday became one controversial story opening the doors to oppositional views regarding the MMA sport that was unfortunately the arena where Carvalho died.

MMA Weekly reports an extraordinary match that took place at the Total Extreme Fighting (TEF) Championship at the National Boxing Stadium last Saturday in Dublin, Ireland that ended with Carvalho being pronounced dead at a hospital after the fight.

The sport, according to The Guardian, as extreme as it is was the arena where an unfortunate incident happened, the death of Carvalho. Although the issue is yet to be explained thoroughly, the publication reveals that there is danger in the sport that introduced minimal restrictions to fighting rules.

The powerful article was published after the death of Carvalho was announced and it was allegedly caused by the nine powerful punches that Carvalho's opponent, Charlie Ward, threw towards him while down on the floor.

In the boxing sport, when one opponent is down, the other usually backs away, but of course in MMA this is allowed and it is a usual scenario for the sport. However, Carvalho apparently didn't manage to survive to punches which resulted in the conclusion of his career and his life.

The news agency alleges that the incident was a legal killing and that it should not be tolerated especially with children watching. Meanwhile, as the issue goes to press, MMA officials remain to be on standby and are still to release a statement to address the matters.

"We are in the process of gathering information with the support of the Irish Amateur Pankration Association and await the outcome of official medical reports," IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said, as per MMA Weekly. "In the meantime, we cannot comment further on this isolated and very sad incident, other than to say that we offer our support."

Despite the popularity and delight that the sport gives to its loyal viewers and audience, it was still indeed a tragic incident. Cesar Silva, CEO of TEF already released a statement extending their condolences to the family of the late 28-year-old fighter. "We extend our most sincere condolences to the family of João Carvalho's and his teammates in Team Nobrega. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. We'd also like to thank all sports fans for their concern and support. We will give whatever support we can to Joao's family," Silva said, as per the news agency.

"We have been in contact with his family and they have requested that we all understand their need for privacy at this difficult time," Silva added.
