'Grey's Anatomy' Season 12: Episode 17 airs April 7; Catherine intervenes with April and Jason's divorce issues

Debbie Allen reappears in "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12 to portray the guest character of Jayson's mom, Catherine Avery. Debbie Allen officially returns as a guest star the upcoming episode of "Grey's Anatomy" Season 12. According to International Business Times, the 66-year-old American actress, dancer, choreographer, TV director and producer portrays the role of Catherine.Avery.

Catherine reenters the scene in episode 17 as she visits her ex daughter-in-law April at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to confirm if she refused to give the information from her son Jackson before signing the divorce papers.

As for the official plot synopsis of episode 17, Spoilers Guide notes, "Meredith Grey goes on an ambulance ride with Owen Hunt and Nathan Riggs to pick up a heart for a transplant patient. Musician and MS patient Kyle Diaz is admitted to Grey Sloan Memorial with a tremor in his hand, and the residents apply for the Preminger Grant; Catherine Avery continues to insert herself into Jackson Avery and April's business against Richard's wishes."
