A French national arrested by the French authorities this week was suspected of plotting France attack. The suspect was believed to be connected to the ringleader of the Paris terror attacks that happened last year.

The arrested French man was identified as Reda Kriket, according to CNN.  Kriket was found to be in advanced stage of plotting France attack when he was taken into custody in Boulogne-Billancourt, west of Paris,. The suspect was earlier found guilty of absentia and was jailed for 10 years over his association with the jihadist group. Kriket's connection with Abdelhamid Abaaoud, the alleged ringleader of the Paris attack was suspected as they were both convicted in July 2015.

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the suspect was in advanced stage of plotting France attack.  He added that the arrest was the result of their continuous manhunt for the suspect in the recent weeks.  "He belongs to a terrorist network that sought to strike our country."

i24 News reported that a small stash of explosives were found in the apartment building of the arrested man linked to plotting France attack. After the arrest, Cazeneuve claimed that there's no strong evidence that would link the arrested French man to Paris or Brussels attack.  The French Interior Minister also said that Kriket had been under surveillance for several weeks before the raid.  The minister said that it is one of the major arrest after a close and constant cooperation of the European services.

The arrest of the man suspected of plotting France attack happened two days after the Brussel bombings that killed at least 31 people, Yahoo claims.  After the Brussels attack, authorities claimed that they are aware of the several ISIS plots in all across Europe.  In both attacks, the ISIS claimed responsibility over the bombings.

Since the Brussels attack, Belgium has lowered its alert to the second-highest level. However, the authorities and police are still on continuous guard over the streets. As of the beginning of the year, the French authorities have captured 75 people linked to terrorism.
