Star Wars: Battlefront DLC Pack 1 Out March 22, Confirms EA; 'Extraction' Mode, New Weapons, 4 Maps Added

EA has recently confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront first digital expansion pack called 'Outer Rim' will be out this coming Tuesday in a gameplay trailer released yesterday showing off the first sneak peak at the new content including the four new maps. 

According to Express.Co., the new Outer Rim DLC for Star Wars Battlefront will be out March 22 offering two maps on Tatooine and Sullust each. New weapons the Relby V-10 rifle and DT-12 blaster pistol, Scatter Gun, Dioxis Grenade, and Adrenaline Stim Star Cards will be included including  a new mode known as 'Extraction'.  

The official description reads:

Rebel forces have entered some of the most dangerous places in the Outer Rim in order to extract a valuable shipment of resources. Now they must bring the shipment to their transport ship before time runs out. The Empire has arrived to stop them from reaching the extraction point.

EA made the announcement following a leak courtesy of online retailer Gamestop indicating that the game's first DLC will arrive on April 5 at a price of $14.99 as reported earlier by Daily Star.

Last month, EA confirmed a free update of Star Wars Battlefront will be released this month along with the revelation that the new Outer Rim expansion pack will also be out in the same month.  It also released an official statement teasing fans on the DLC and free update saying that the free updates and the launch of the first digital expansion pack is expected to come out this March. It includes new content that fans will love such as additional maps, weapons, heroes, and an all-new mode.

The Star Wars Battlefront Outer Rim DLC will allow players to battle in the factories of Sullust and fight within Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine. EA also teased the new heroes and villains coming to Star Wars Battlefront by sharing an image of the Rebel pilot Nien Nunb and Bounty Hunter Greedo, fighting on the homeplanet of Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars Battefront will be receiving four DLC packs starting off this month until early 2017. After the Outer Rim release, the Bespin Cloud City pack will follow summer 2016, Death Star pack in Fall 2016 and a final yet unnamed pack in early next year. 

Meanwhile, Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment , has announced that the new PlayStation VR headset would feature an exclusive new Star Wars Battlefront experience. 

Star Wars Battlefront is the third main entry in the Star Wars: Battlefront series that was released on November 17, 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
