The third installment for the American horror film series first written and directed by Victor Salva is set to begin filming early this year, according to Bloody Disgusting. Jonathan Breck is confirmed to reprise his role as the villainous Creeper with Brandon Smith returning as Sergeant Davis Tubbs. It is slated to begin production in Vancouver.
The first film by Salva featured Breck, Smith, Gina Philips, Justin Long and Eileen Brennan. It was executive produced by acclaimed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. It earned $59 million against a $10 million budget and was received with mixed reviews despite being nominated for Best Movie for the International Horror Guild Award.
The sequel, 'Jeepers Creepers 2', was also directed by Salva and executive produced by Coppola. It was released in 2003 and earned $63 million at the box office. It, too, received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike.
According to Moviepilot, the new plot will feature The Creeper in a 23-day feeding frenzy with Sergeant Tubbs teaming up with a new task force aiming to destroy the villainous entity for good. It will also follow The Creepers' origin and his ever growing powers.
Another article by The Hollywood Reporter noted that Salva's new film will be financed by Myriad Pictures although the new cast has not been announced yet. Coppola's American Zoetrope will co-produce the film together with Odyssey Media's Kirk Shaw and Surai Gohill as well as Stan Spry's The Cartel.
Salva announced in an earlier statement, "What will go before cameras as Jeepers Creepers 3 is a new and terrifying chapter from the Jeepers universe... We are bringing back the Creeper's truck, and will be addressing the big questions about The Creeper: what it is, where it came from and why it does what it does."
The Creeper is the franchise's main antagonist, an ancient demon that devours human flesh for 23 days ever 23rd of Spring. He appears as a humanoid figure who wears a tattered duster, tattered trousers and a wide brimmed stetson. He is depicted as a creature who has bird-like talons for feet, needle-like teeth and a set of bat-like wings.
'Jeepers Creepers 3' is an upcoming horror film intended as the third installment in Victor Salva's franchise. It will feature the return of Jonathan Breck as the titular Creeper with Brandon Smith as the protagonist Sergeant Tubbs.
