Samsung Galaxy S7 To Launch On February 21; Specs, Features and Price Detailed

By

The long speculation period of Galaxy S7 is finally over as Samsung Electronics has confirmed that it will be launching its flagship device on February 21. Predicted specs and features of this much awaited device are were detailed.

According to Christian Post, Samsung is set to unveil its latest Galaxy flagship device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 21. The South Korean tech giant has already given out invitations to an "Unpacked" event, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. CET. This is on the eve of the annual Mobile World Congress, the year's prevalent mobile trade show.

Even though Samsung did not obviously stated that it will launch the Galaxy S7 which is the seventh iteration of its flagship Galaxy smartphone, most tech enthusiast and tech websites are predicting that it is the S7 that will be "unpacked" at the occasion. On the same day, LG will launch its LG G5, one of the two flagship devices wherein the South Korean tech giant has pinned its hopes of revitalizing its sinking mobile division.

When it comes to specs and features, iDigitalTimes reported the Samsung Galaxy S7 might be packed with a huge 3 GB of RAM. However, a lot of rumors about the device have suggested that the upcoming S series would include 4G B of RAM, a 1 GB upgrade from the Galaxy S6. It can be remembered that in 2015, Samsung patrons saw the Galaxy Note line sporting an improved RAM from 3GB to 4GB in 2015.

It was also stated that the Galaxy S7  would be powered by a 3,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S7 Edge would be armed with a 3,600mAh cell. Consumers have notably critiqued the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge after it was launched in 2015 with only 2,500mAh and 2600mAh battery capacities respectively. Both of these devices have suffered from terrible battery life of less than a full day for many users, which is quite a typical scenario for Samsung devices.

The upcoming flagship devices are expected to keep the same unibody design seen on the Galaxy S6. Nevertheless, a major battery bump like the one suggested would significantly improve the battery life on the Galaxy. Some speculations still suggest the S7 may have a small battery of the same capacity as the Galaxy S6.

As for the price, Alphr stated that with the Galaxy S5 launching at a price of £550 and Galaxy S6 at £599, the Galaxy S7 could be reasonably priced at around £650. Nonetheless, Samsung won't jump so far forward, so it might hover around the £599 mark or even boast a sub £550 price tag.

Nonetheless, these features and price can only be confirmed during the Galaxy S7 launch on February 21. Patrons and interested buyers have roughly two weeks left until the flagship handset makes its first public appearance.
