Apple iPhone 5se Release Slated On March; Device Already In Production

Apple Inc. is speculated to hold an event this coming March to launch its new devices. One of the anticipated handsets that could debut at  the occasion is the iPhone 5se. Reports have it that the device is in production as of the moment.

According to BGR, the information originated from a Japanese site named Nikkei, which has learned from unnamed officials that the iPhone 5se is already in the production stage. The site further stated that the smaller iPhone will be low-priced compared to iPhone 6s. Additionally, Apple is said to be looking to increase its user base in emerging markets with the aid of a more affordable handset.

Nevertheless, tech enthusiasts are warned not to expect that the iPhone 5se will be the affordable new iPhone they've been waiting for all this year.  Mark Gurman claimed the device would simply replace the iPhone 5s in Apple's lineup, meaning it will be the cheapest iPhone the company will offer only this year.

Christian Post noted that the iPhone 5se is a 4-inch version of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. The "se" in the name stands for special edition. With the release of the 5se, users who prefer smaller phones will surely be pleased especially because it is a budget-friendly handset.

The iPhone 5se is speculated to run the Apple A9/M9 chipset instead of the A8 processor, which was formerly reported. It will also have 16 GB and 64 GB varieties that house a 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Also featuring a support for Apple Pay, this handset is armed with 801.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 4.2, and VoLTE.

Additionally, the iPhone 5se will be able to view Live Photos, but the device will not be able to record them. The upcoming 4-inch smartphone from Apple will come in Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and Space Gray color variants.

As for the price, Phone Arena reported that it could be priced at $450. The iPhone 5se is most probably the replacement for the Apple iPhone 6 and Apple iPhone 6 Plus in Apple's lineup once the Apple iPhone 7 is launched.

Aside from the iPhone 5se, Apple Inc. is also expected to launch its iPad Air 3 and new Apple Watch-related products on it March event.
