A suspect has been taken into custody after four people were stabbed at Target in Pittsburgh Monday evening.

Police were informed about the incident in the East Liberty section of the city. Officials said they nabbed the suspect at the scene.

According to the Associated Press, a 16-year- old girl was those among injured. She was taken to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and is in critical condition, the hospital staff said.

Details on what exactly happened are unclear. However, initial reports indicate the four people were victims of a random stabbing. The motive behind the incident is unknown. According to various reports each victim was stabbed several times.

Post-Gazette.com reported the man with the knife was shocked by a Taser and pepper-sprayed before being taken into custody, Pittsburgh police Sgt. Tom Huerbin said. He was treated for pepper spray exposure and will be held in the Allegheny County Jail. Charges are pending, Sgt. Huerbin said.

The Examiner reported the incident follows a line of random acts of violence in cities and towns all over the country.

"The safety and security of our guests and team members is a top priority for Target and we are partnering closely with local law enforcement," Target said in a statement.
