T-Mobile HTC One M8 Receives Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update in Germany: Will US Follow This Week?

By

T-Mobile is on the verge of capping off the official over-the-air (OTA) release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in Germany. The update failed to arrive in the United States yesterday as announced last week by HTC to come by this time. Will T-Mobile release instead the update to its One M8 this week?

HTC One M8 units on T-Mobile were already confirmed for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to come on January 25 as a target. On the same day, the magenta carrier just changed the status of the device on its Marshmallow track list from "Manufacturer Development" to "T-Mobile Testing." This means that HTC and T-Mobile were not able to make it on the target date since nothing has arrived yet.

Instead, speculations circulating now that update must come this week since it would no longer take too much time for the carrier to do tests as units of One M8 in Germany has already received it, and so far, there has been no download and installation complaints. There is now new concrete information for now as HTC did not make any additional statement with regards to T-Mobile updates.

HTC One M8 phones in Canada and the United Kingdom have already received the update since last week. In the US, no carrier has released it yet but unlocked versions were already updated.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile is expected to bring the voice over LTE (VoLTE) calling feature to One M8 on top of Marshmallow's features and improvements, which include Doze, fingerprint support, Now on Tap and better app permissions.

HTC will also come up with Sense 7.0 UI that will boast a flatter and minimalistic look, new notification panel, new icons, improved system apps, new theme app to support Sense 7.0 features, new home screen, improved settings menu, new widgets, new lock screen, better app permissions, better battery management, and several other improvements and security patches.
