Apple to use faster A11 chip by TSM; Samsung to use cheaper processing chip?

By

The Taiwan Semiconductor won the hearts of Apple executives as it gets the go signal to manufacture the prestigious company's chip. Now with the dawn of the new Iphone7, TSM gave a lot of clue that it will make Apples A11 chip. Meanwhile, Samsung is reported to use a cheaper processing chip like Qualcomm.

As reported by Barchart, TSM is the manufacturer and distributor of Samsung and Apples chip. The management said that unlike the 14/16 nanometer chip before it, the company will start creating the 10-nanometer model. This chip shows a lot of market share and the company doesn't intend to lose it. Apple will be expected to be the first mobile company to shift to a new mobile application processor.

Samsung was the first to get the 14 nanometer technology before any company back when the 16-nanometer chip was the standard but experts say that TSM has no plans in making Samsung get ahead this time, but it still to be seen if TSM stands to their claim. If this prediction comes true then Samsung might be opted to use the cheaper processing chip vendor like Qualcomm to get its Snapdragon 802 in the production line reports from Fool says.

According to Zdnet, a lot can change between now and the time that Apple starts using the latest chip. But with Apple and TSM's partnership in the past till the present, it's not impossible that it will happen.

TSM predicts a shorter ramp-up time with the 10-nanometer chip and it believes that it will increase Apples revenue as it did with the 14/16 chip before it. The new chip will improve the clock speed of the device where it will be installed. Not to mention the additional architecture that Apple will add to the phone. Apple is by far the largest single customer for this state of the art chip technology because of the sheer volume of phones that it sells annually.
