Leaked LG G5 Diagram Features a New Design to be Unveiled at 2016 MWC

A leaked diagram of the upcoming LG G5 has showed a new redesign of LG’s latest flagship, reports have emerged.

Rumored to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress to be held at Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 21, the South Korean tech manufacturer’s latest smartphone has had very little information disclosed about it until the recent leak, Android Authority has confirmed.

Based on the leaked diagram, the LG G5 design appears to be a departure from the G-series, with a taller, thinner, and wider shell.

With the current G4 measuring 148.9mm x 76.1mm x 6.3 to 9.8mm, its successor is expected to measure as much as 149.4mm x 73.9mm x 8.2mm, Digital Trends has noted.

The LG G5 diagram also shows the volume rocker moved to one side of the phone, instead of at the rear like in the current and past G-series handsets, which may have something to do with the upcoming smartphone’s thickness.

The power button is still located at the rear of the phone just beneath the camera, and a fingerprint scanner is a prominent feature, as well.

LG is reportedly gearing up to announce the LG G5 at the MWC next month, with rumors abounding the new handset will have an all-metal build – another first for the tech manufacturer’s G-series phones, Tech Times reported.

With a QHD resolution display pegged at 5.6 inches, a similar diagram which appeared on CNet Korea based on eyewitness testimony points out to an edge-to-edge IPS flexible touchscreen.

Touted to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 or 820 chipset, it will be backed by 4GB of RAM, and 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB internal storage options, with a microSD slot for expandable memory.

LG is also said to be working hand in hand with Korean eye-scanning tech company, IRIENCE, which will supply the upcoming G5 handset with an eye scanner.
