Anchor Accused of Choking Wife: WCBS-TV Reporter Rob Morrison Due Back in Court Tuesday After Arrest

By

WCBS-TV news anchor Rob Morrison was arrested Sunday on charges of choking his wife Ashley Morrison, during an argument at their Connecticut home, police authorities said.

Police responded to call by Morrison's mother-in-law to report domestic violence at the couple's Hollow Tree Ridge Road home. The authorities said Morrison was aggressive towards his wife Ashley, a news anchor for CBS "MoneyWatch", the whole night and tried strangulating her, the Associated Press reported.

"Upon arrival, it was ascertained that Morrison had been becoming increasingly belligerent toward his wife during the course of the evening, culminating in his choking her by the neck with both hands," the Darien Police Department said in a statement.

Morrison faced the charges with second-degree strangulation, threatening and disorderly conduct. He was granted bail on a $100,000 bond. He is due in court Tuesday.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that a family statement posted by Morrison on Twitter said that the "allegations have been greatly exaggerated."

"Rob and Ashley Morrison are cooperating fully with the authorities to insure that all of the information necessary to properly evaluate this unfortunate incident is made available," the statement read."The Morrisons are confident that a full review of this matter will show that the allegations have been greatly exaggerated."
