‘XXX 3’ News: Samuel L. Jackson stars with Vin Diesel; Bollywood's Deepika Padukone set for Hollywood debut?

'XXX 3' will feature the return of Samuel L. Jackson, who also appeared on the first two films as NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons. Bollywood beauty Deepika Padukone is also rumored to join the sequel as Vin Diesel's new leading lady.

According to /Film, Jackson is all set to reprise his role as Augustus Gibbons in the third installment in the action series first released on 2002. Jackson played the fictitious NSA Agent who recruited Vin Diesel's Xander Cage, an extreme sports enthusiast, to work for the government. His character first debuted on 2002's 'XXX' and returned for 2005's 'XXX: State of the Union'.

Another article from IGN reported that famous UFC champion Connor McGregor will also be appearing on the film as announced by Diesel on his Instagram account. It is said to be McGregor's cinematic debut. No further details of McGregor's role have been revealed as of the present.

Diesel also posted another video on Facebook showing a conversation with director David Twohy. The two spoke about the upcoming film revealing that it will be an origin story of sorts. It will explore "where it all started, where it all began" with lead protagonist Xander Cage.

The lead character was first introduced as an extreme sports enthusiast, rebellious athlete and stuntman who was turned into a spy working for the U.S. government's National Security Agency. He was sent on a dangerous mission to infiltrate a group of Russian terrorists. Diesel didn't return for the sequel - Ice Cube took over the lead role - as he had to work on the action-comedy film 'The Pacifier'.

Meanwhile, Bollywood star Deepika Padukone may make her Hollywood debut as well ever since speculations of her possible collaboration with Diesel blew up online. According to Bollyspice, the actress posted an image on her Twitter account of herself hugging a man presumed to be Diesel in front of an XXX poster. This lead to rumors that she may be the actor's latest leading lady in the third film otherwise known as 'XXX: The Return of Xander'.

'XXX 3' is an upcoming action-thriller film starring Vin Diesel in the lead role of Xander Cage. It is an action-adventure thriller directed by D.J. Caruso based on a screenplay by John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris. It is currently in pre-production.
