South Carolina police say that video evidence indicates that a missing teenager committed suicide on Halloween.
For more than a week, authorities have been searching for 19-year-old Owen Tillman Kenney. Kenney had attended an event with friends, who believed he was headed to his home on Bull Street. Police said they had footage of Kenney walking alone on the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway shortly after 3 a.m. on October 31.
On November 6, police announced that additional footage showed that Kenney took his own life. "After reviewing recently recovered video evidence, detectives confirmed through direct observation that at 3:49 a.m. on October 31, 2025, Owen took his own life after walking onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway," police stated.
Kenney was originally from Tinton Falls, New Jersey, but had transferred to the College of Charleston in January.
Police said they remain in close contact with the Kenney family and had initiated search and recovery efforts.
"Our priority has always been and will remain Owen's family. This is a real case involving a real family living through unimaginable pain, and they deserve compassion, privacy, and support from all of us," Chief Chito Walker said.
