A Florida woman is facing felony charges after allegedly macing another driver in a bizarre act of road rage she claims was meant to punish the woman for killing a chicken.

The confrontation began on July 9, when Cynthia Diaz Sosa, 38, said she had stopped her car on Petronia Street in Key West to let a chicken cross the road, Local 10 reported. According to police, another driver behind her honked, drove around her vehicle, and ran over the bird. Diaz Sosa told investigators she was furious and wanted to "teach her a lesson."

After following the other driver to the intersection of Emma and Olivia streets, Diaz Sosa allegedly pulled up, yanked open the car door, and sprayed bear mace inside the vehicle, hitting the driver and a female passenger. She then fled the scene, police said.

Authorities and medics responded to treat the two victims, and Sosa was later arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery and one count of burglary with assault or battery. She was not listed as an inmate as of July 16, but is scheduled to be arraigned on July 24.
