A Florida man who police say shot and killed his wife rather than sign divorce papers has been arrested.

Lamar Antonio Bryant, 41, faces first-degree murder charges in the March 25 shooting death of Takeshia Eads, 42. "Our hearts go out to Takeshia's family at this time of devastating loss," Orange County Sheriff's police stated.

Eads was in the process of divorcing Bryant, but Bryant refused to sign the papers, ABC-13 reported. Bryant and Eads had been married for about 10 years.

The station reported that Eads' mother and sister-in-law described her as being the glue that held the family together. They said that she had four children and four grandchildren.

The shooting happened while Eads was at home with two of her children, Fox 35 reported. The station reported that Bryant had picked up the couple's daughter at school. The girl said that her father appeared intoxicated.

Before going to Eads' home, the daughter told police that her father stopped at a liquor store and also went to a storage unit where he got two guns, Fox 35 reported. Once at the home, Bryant eventually retrieved the guns, entered the home and allegedly shot Eads while she was in the bathroom.
