A Louisiana Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer found himself on the wrong side of the law after authorities allegedly uncovered drugs on him at work, leading to an explosive revelation that he may also be tied to a local pharmacy burglary, police said.

John Dix, a 35-year-old corrections officer at the Pine Prairie ICE Processing Center, was arrested on Jan. 30 after authorities caught him with a stash of illegal narcotics while on duty, officials said. A search turned up nine MDMA pills, five Suboxone tablets, 7.25 grams of meth, and a glass pipe—evidence that put him in handcuffs.

A search of his car in the facility's parking lot turned up two more glass meth pipes, along with a black jacket and green gloves, items police say match the outfit worn by the suspect who burglarized Fuselier's Pharmacy on Jan. 20, per local news.

Authorities also reviewed a statement from a fellow corrections officer who reported seeing Dix enter the front lobby and place a black pouch on a scanner. When another officer inspected it, she found a glass pipe and pouches filled with white powder. Before she could react, Dix allegedly snatched the pouch from her hands and bolted out the door.

When police searched Dix's vehicle with a K9 unit, the dog immediately signaled the presence of narcotics. Instead of protesting, Dix shrugged. "No, y'all can tear it apart," he allegedly said. Moments later, officers uncovered drug paraphernalia hidden inside.

Dix was booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on multiple charges, including possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and MDMA, possession of Suboxone, and taking contraband to and from a penal institution.

Authorities are still investigating his possible role in the pharmacy burglary.
