A Florida man is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide after allegedly striking and killing an infant after kicking a woman out of his car, police reported.

On Saturday, 20-year-old Justin Towand Golden was driving in Jacksonville with a female passenger and the 8-month-old infant when an argument erupted inside the vehicle, according to the Jacksonville's Sheriff's Office.

The situation escalated when Golden allegedly stopped at an intersection, removed the baby from the car, placed the child on the ground, and drove off, striking the infant in the process.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at McDuff Avenue South and Lenox Avenue around 10:39 a.m. Crime Scene and Traffic Homicide Units gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses. The baby was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead.

Golden was arrested later that day and booked into the Duval County jail.

Golden has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and vehicular homicide for failing to render aid. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court for his initial hearing.

Authorities have not disclosed whether Golden is related to the child, and the investigation is ongoing.
