A Florida mom who may have been under the influence of drugs was arrested for leaving her young son at a Miami park alone because he was misbehaving.

Parkgoers called law enforcement after determining her 5-year-old son had been alone for 20 minutes, Local 10 reported, and that his mother appeared disoriented and left with a man in a vehicle. The boy then told law enforcement he was often left alone when he behaved badly.

A witness later called police after spotting spotted the boy's mother, Alize Angel Rodriguez, 20, and called police, informing them that she had thrown her purse in a bush.

Police found marijuana and pills, including Xanax, inside Rodriguez's purse, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10.

She was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including child neglect without great bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance (Xanax pills) and possession of cannabis.

Her son was taken to stay with his maternal grandmother while Rodriguez remains in custody awaiting bail.
