A chilling murder has shaken Fort Lauderdale, where a $20,000 Rolex deal spiraled into violence, leaving a 73-year-old jeweler dead and a so-called "family friend" behind bars.
Anthony D'Amore, jeweler, was strangled to death in his workshop on December 20 by Nenad Milosevich, 56, after an argument over a payment dispute escalated, authorities said.
Surveillance footage shows the two men entering D'Amore's office in an upscale glass-covered tower around 10 p.m. Milosevich later left alone, carrying jewelry and other items wrapped in a blanket.
D'Amore's disappearance raised alarms when his wife reported him missing that evening. Three days later, police discovered his lifeless body inside the jewelry workshop on North Federal Highway, as reported by WPLG Local 10.
Investigators retrieved footage showing Milosevich walking into the building with D'Amore but leaving alone hours later, clutching a bag and the workshop's DVR system, which he later confessed to throwing off a bridge.
Milosevich allegedly admitted to killing D'Amore during an argument over the Rolex purchase. Having paid $16,000 of the $20,000 price tag, Milosevich became enraged when D'Amore raised the price due to delayed payments and refused to release other jewelry items as collateral.
The confrontation turned violent, with Milosevich striking D'Amore twice in the throat before choking him to death, police said.
"The deal for the Rolex had gone bad," a detective noted in the arrest report. "This caused an argument between them."
Milosevich, who D'Amore's wife described as a family friend, claimed he accompanied D'Amore to the office that night to shop for jewelry for his girlfriend. Instead, their bond dissolved into fatal violence.
Authorities arrested Milosevich on a second-degree murder charge. He remains in custody at the Broward County Jail without bond.
The investigation continues as authorities work to recover the stolen items and piece together the full timeline of events.
