A decades-long feud between two men may have triggered a murder-suicide at an 80th birthday party in Tennessee.

Bobby Andrew Phy, 56, shot and killed Randall Eldridge, 63, at a Putnam County, Tennessee home Tuesday evening, according to the sheriff's office.

Partygoers were gathered at the home for a birthday celebration when witnesses said an argument broke out in the driveway between the pair.

Phy drew a gun and fatally shot Eldridge before turning the gun on himself.

Investigators alleged a "long-standing feud between Phy and Eldridge going back at least 10 years" may have sparked the tragedy.

It's unclear the details of their relationship.

"The family and family members having the 80th birthday party are highly respected and upstanding citizens in our community," Sheriff Eddie Farris said in a statement. "This is certainly a sad tragedy for this family and unfortunate that this incident occurred."
