Police and SWAT teams surrounded a Midtown Atlanta hotel on Tuesday afternoon following reports from witnesses who heard multiple gunshots.

Georgia authorities confirmed the suspect was armed, according to Metro.

That a man was seen pointing a gun at someone on an upper floor of the hotel. Police spotted the suspect on a balcony, but he soon disappeared from view, the Metro further disclosed.

Guests and residents at the Four Seasons were instructed to shelter in place, while visitors were urged to stay away from the area.

At 3:52 p.m., the Atlanta Police Department posted on X (formerly Twitter), "Citizens within sight of the Four Seasons Hotel are advised to avoid any windows and rooms facing the area."

Police revealed, according to Metro, that the suspect threw a handgun off the balcony, but remained inside.

This is a developing story.
