Police in Massachusetts are scrambling to find an inmate who purportedly walked straight out of jail and into the woods.

Kevin Michael O'Brien allegedly escaped the minimum security Pondville Correctional Facility in Norfolk, Massachusetts Tuesday morning, according to authorities.

O'Brien was last seen on prison grounds around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Massachusetts Department of Correction officials said in a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon.

Prison staff were conducting a routine check and discovered that O'Brien had not returned around 11 a.m., officials said, according to Boston25.

The 72-year-old inmate is described as 5-foot-7, 160 lbs., with a stocky build, blue eyes, and white hair.

O'Brien was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, white sneakers, black glasses, and a baseball cap, said authorities.

He was serving time for theft of a motor vehicle, according to WFXT-TV,

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections have deployed K-9s and drones in their hunt for the escaped prisoner.
