Court development delays Chris Brown's Washington assault trial

By

CBS News reported that the misdemeanor assault trial of actor and rapper Chris Brown has been delayed for months. The Washington court have arrived at the decision following the refusal of the prosecution to grant immunity to Brown's bodyguard, Chris Hollosy. Hollosy, who was convicted for assault due to an incident Brown was was arrested and indicted for, has been touted as key witness. The news outlet noted that Brown's trial would have started on Wednesday.

The trial had stemmed in an incident outside a W Hotel. Brown was reportedly having his picture taken with two female fans when the ladies' companion, 20 year-old Parker Adams, tried to get into the photo opportunity. Based on the charging documents in the case, Brown made comments purportedly addressed to the plaintiff, saying, "I ain't down with that gay s---t" and "I feel like boxing." Adams claimed that he was later ganged up by Brown and Hollosy following a heated exchange of words with the rapper. he also said that he suffered a fractured nose, facial and head injuries in the process.

Brown has since denied hitting Adams, and told police that a certain someone had tried to get on his tour bus and had let her bodyguard, Hollosy, handle it. Hollosy owned up to punching Adams in the face, according to court documents.

Brown and Hollosy were tried separately for the same offense upon the order of Judge Patricia Wynn, CBS News said. Hollosy's conviction was handed out by a presiding judge, and Brown's case ruling will also be done by the same way as well and not through a grand jury.

The prosecutors' denial of Hollosy acting as key witness was due to the fact that the bodyguard was already convicted for assault in the same incident. According to Hollosy, he will not testify in Brown's case until he finishes with his appeal for his own case. CBS News noted that this could take months, and that Brown's trial would have to wait then.
