Samsung has announced that instead of launching the much awaited Galaxy S8 on the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, they will be introducing a mystery device on Feb 26. It has now been confirmed that the mystery device will be tablet.

Phone Arena reports that smartphone releases can sometimes be confirmed by certifications by Bluetooth SIG or the Wi-Fi Alliance. This time Wi-Fi Alliance has just confirmed that Samsung will introduce a tablet with the model number SM-T378.The SM-T378 will reportedly feauture 2.4Ghz and 5.0GHz Wi-Fi bands.

Andriod Headlines also reports that tablet will have three variants with model numbers SM-T378S, SM-T378K and SM-T378L will likely sport different chipsets or cellular modem functionality. Details for these models were not specified.

It was rumored that the mystery device will be the Galaxy Tab S3. But by looking at the model numbers of the Tab S3 family which is the SM-T820 and the SM-T825, it likely that the mystery device will not be part of that high end family.

The model numbers posted by the Wi-Fi Alliance is in line with Samsung's 8 inch variant of tablets, the Galaxy Tab E which was released early 2016. Those tablets were sold under the model number SM-T375 for the Wi-Fi only model while the other 4 variants were sold under the model designation starting with SM-T377.

The early Samsung Galaxy Tab E sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset but may use another chip from another company. Samsung is known to use a wide range of chipsets for its tablets including Spreadtrum or its own in house Exynos System-on-Chips.

Meanwhile Phone Arena has pegged the Samsung Galaxy S3 unconfirmed features. The high-end tablet is supposed to feature a 9.6" screen with a pixel resolution of 2048x1536. It would have 4 GB of ram and 32 GB of memory. It will also feature a 12-megapixel camera and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
