Actor Kal Penn Calls Trump's Travel Ban "Insulting"

Hollywood actor, Kal Penn responds to Trump's travel ban tweet, calling it "insulting". He said that he feels insulted as an American, by the rhetoric President Trump has used in relation to the travel ban.

He was referring to Trump's tweet on Monday morning that defended the travel ban he imposed against Muslim refugees. These include citizens coming from Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, and Lybia.

"What the President is saying and doing is completely ridiculous," he told CNN. "I find it insulting as an American citizen that you would infer that anybody who helped our soldiers stay alive are bad dudes."

Trump's executive order was issued on Friday to suspend refugees from entering the country for 120 days and 90 days for immigrants from seven predominantly Muslim nations. The ban blocked green card holders and people with valid visas, including Iraqi interpreters who had previously helped the U.S. Army.

However, this is not the first time Penn is getting political. The actor, who is famous for his role as Kumar in the 2004 comedy hit, "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle", served as the associate director of public engagement for former U.S. President Barack Obama at a time before. He was also dealing with the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and the arts community in 2008.

According to Philly.com, the actor also organized a fund-raiser following Trump's signing of immigration ban for Muslim refugees over the weekend. He set up a crowdfunding page for refugees after receiving a hateful message on Instagram on Saturday, telling him that "he doesn't belong to the country". At the time of publishing, the campaign raised more than $500,000 for Syrian refugees, among the others.
