Car2Go Offer Luxury Rides With Mercedes Benz Addition To Its Fleet

Car sharing service Car2Go provides customers with an opportunity to ride in luxury as it adds Mercedes Benz to its fleet of cars.

Known for its ubiquitous two-seater sedans that have become a common sight in various cities around the world, Car2Go is reportedly swapping out around 10 percent of its trademark Smart cars for Mercedes Benz sedans. According to a report that appeared in the Washingtonian, as many as 75 CLA-class sedans and GLA-class crossover utility vehicles will be available in Washington and Arlington for members to rent.

The addition of Mercedes Benz by Car2Go comes in the heel of customer requests for a car that has the capacity to carry more than just two people and a few grocery bags. At the same time, it can help boost the satisfaction of customers who want to impress their passengers with flashy car than the nine-foot long Smart two-seater car with blue and white livery.

In a report by the Vancouver Sun, Car2Go members in Vancouver will have an option to choose from 150 Mercedes Benz GLA sports utility vehicles and 100 CLA sedans. The company also expects these luxury cars to make up most of its North American fleet by the end of 2017. Fewer tiny Smart cars will be seen on Vancouver roads by that time.

Since its launch in DC and Arlington in 2012 and 2015, respectively, Car2Go has made it easier for car-free residents to travel around their cities. Its fleet of Smart cars can be seen plying the busy streets of Georgetown, Perth, and U Street.

However, the luxury ride comes with a heavy price. According to the website of Face Off, the cost for the Mercedes Benz cars will be 45 cents a minute, $17 for every hour, and $99 per day. In contrast, the smaller Smart cars will cost 32 cents a minute, $13 per hour, and $65 a day.
