Steelers vs. Chiefs Update: Ben Roethlisberger Suffers Ankle Injury But Plans To Play Next Sunday

By

The Pittsburgh Steelers earned a ticket to the AFC Divisional Round with a dominating win against the Miami Marlins last Sunday. However, the Steelers did not come out unscathed as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered an ankle injury.

The Marlins were no match against the Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The game ended with a score of 30-12 with Roethlisberger connecting on four touchdowns. Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown were unstoppable as the Steelers moves on to the next round, per NFL.com.

In the AFC Divisional Round, the Kansas City Chiefs have home field advantage against the Steelers. The Chiefs will host the Steelers at the Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday, January 16. In their only game this season, Pittsburgh came out on top with a 43-14 win at home.

However, the Steelers got a scare when Roethlisberger was injured in the second to the last offensive play of the game. He threw an interception and suffered the injury after a tackle from Marlins defensive end Cameron Wake.

"Big Ben" was seen wearing a walking boot after the game. He told USA Today in an interview that he plans to play against the Chiefs on Sunday. He noted that he was worried about the injury but he will suit up next week.

"You're always worried about being hurt. But I'll be out there next week. I love being out there with the guys," Roethlisberger said.

Despite the big game from the Steelers and a week off, the Chiefs are still the favorites to advance to the AFC Championship game. According to OddShark, the Chiefs are favored to win by 1.5 points. Kansas City is 9-7 against the spread while the Steelers are 10-6-1.

The Chiefs are 5-1 in their last six games that included big wins against the Denver Broncos twice, Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, and San Diego Chargers. The Steelers vs. Chiefs game will start at 1:05 PM on Sunday, January 16.
