Recent news of came out that Alabama lawmakers have passed a bill that would officially decriminalize or rather legalize marijuana oil possession, only under the condition that it would belong to patients with debilitating medical conditions. Such applies for those in the state, as some reports say.
According to WKRN, Alabama's Senate officially voted 29-3 last Wednesday to push a bill that talks of pushing forward the legal use of medical marijuana for patients under the state that will need of it. Representatives voted 95-4 earlier in the month in favor of the measure, and supporters claimed that the bill will aid patients and families that suffer from drastic medical conditions like severe epilepsy and seizures or the like.
As per Yellow Hammer News, what is known as CBD or Cannabidoil, is a non-psychoactive oil that when extracted from marijuana, can be of utter benefit in many cases. So far, the said oil has shown significant promise as a treatment to reduce seizures in children, caused by intractable epilepsy or other cases thereof.
It was noted by Extract Sun Times that Sen. Paul Sanford, R-Huntsville, declared that the bill which will decriminalize marijuana oil possession should do well with permitting families to seek out this medical treatment without the anxiety of being arrested or prosecuted. He was then quoted on his statement, saying, "This is really an opportunity to add some sunlight. They don't want to feel like criminals. They know they need something like this."
Officially, the law is aligned and even aliased by some as Leni's Law, labelled after an Alabama girl who moved to Oregon, Leni Young, who suffered a stroke before being born that resulted in many seizures daily. After receiving treatment with the use of cannabis oil, significant changes were seen that triggered improvements for the next number of months. With such, the bill was further tolerated to not just target seizures but also other sicknesses that can be possibly cured.
