Georgian Authorities Arrest and Detain Suspected Uranium Sellers; Value Roughly Over $200M

Recent allegations of three citizens suspected on selling Uranium have become quite fast around the web. Investigations of the material's worth and purpose stirred attention and as those with orientation on chemicals and minerals may be aware of, Uranium can be quite the threat under the wrong hands.

According to Scitation, some may not be aware that Uranium is more abundant than speculated upon. The said element can be found even more prominently than Silver and Mercury and when properly mixed with the right ingredients, can be used for mass disruption. Such is the dread of Georgian authorities and a recent apprehension of some affirmed suspects.

As per Civil, three Georgian and three Armenian citizens were reported on possession and the attempt to sell Uranium 238, also known as U-238. According to some law enforcement and nuclear experts, the said substance has the potential if not the full capability of being the central ingredient in the fabrication of a dirty bomb, which once released can spread cancer-inducing radioactive material within a populated area.

Radio Free Europe Radio Liberty delivered that Georgia State Security Service investigator Savle Motiashvili mentioned last April 18th that the said group had plans of selling the dangerous radioactive material for a slamming $200 million. The Uranium was then carefully kept in a special factory container, acquired from the house owned by one of the suspects. All six suspects will be officially charged with improper use and illegal selling of interactive materials as per Motiashvili and once proven guilty, the punishment can render each one up to ten years of imprisonment.

So far, the suspects apprehended by the Georgian authorities are still being detained until the investigation comes forth and a decision will wash ashore for the case. Uranium, according to experts, has become a somewhat feared material due to its reasonable accessibility and chemical attributes under the control of one with ample knowledge in chemistry and physics.
