A young mother and her friend are facing charges of child neglect after leaving her small child inside a hot car in the parking lot of a strip club in Nashville, Tennessee where she was auditioning.

According to WSMV, Kelsey McMurtry left her baby locked up inside a hot car with all the windows rolled up around 4:00 p.m. while she was at a strip club named Deja Vu Showgirls for an audition. McMurtry had a friend inside the club, Summer Taylor, who was supposed to be keeping an eye on the 9-month-old infant.

A passerby had noticed the infant and alerted the incident to the nearest police station. Witnesses and passersby estimated that about half an hour had passed before the police arrived an the scene.

The 19-year-old friend told the police that she had been checking on the infant. However, witnesses disputed Taylor's statement and told the police and investigators that she had been inside the strip club with the 24-year-old mother the entire time, 5 News Online reports.

By the time the police removed the infant, the police described that the young girl wore a heavy coat and was drenched in sweat. Officials estimated that outside the Pontiac PT Cruiser, the temperature was approximately about 72 degrees, but inside the car the temperature had reached 100 degrees.

The baby was rushed and treated into the nearest hospital. The young girl was later transferred in the Tennessee Department of Children's Services who responded to take care of her welfare, according to WSB-TV Atlanta 2.

Aside from charges of child neglect, the 9-month-old baby's mother has also been charged with criminal impersonation. McMurtry had a history record of giving a false identity to the police to avoid being associated with an outstanding warrant.
