Kingsman 2 could be part of a planned trilogy; Edward Croft confirmed to reprise villainous role

By

The green light that Kingsman 2 received is not really much of a surprise given the box office success that the first film acquired. As the sequel slowly inches closer to its 2017 release, several names have been linked to the project as well as returnees from the previous installment.

Taron Egerton and Mark Strong are set to reprise their roles as Eggsy and Merlin in the upcoming Kingsman 2. However, their operation as secret agents might no longer be limited to the United Kingdom as rumors have surfaced that they may take the action to the United States.

If such rumor is true, it gives foundation to a report by Variety stating that "X-Men: Days of Future Past" actress Halle Berry is currently in talks to play the role of a CIA Chief, although it is unclear whether her character would be an ally to Egerton's Eggsy or an enemy.

According to Deadline, Egerton and Strong will also be joined by Edward Holcroft who will return to his role as Charlie. Holcroft was established in the first film as one of the dashing elite youngsters vying to be part of the Kingsman Secret Service and has always been against Eggsy's entry to the group.

Moreover, rumors have also surfaced that the upcoming second film might be the middle of the planned trilogy that is being prepared for the franchise. According to Cinemablend, a source has allegedly revealed that the deal for Berry's casting is for two movies which could mean that a third film will also happen.

However, it is worth noting that all rumors pertaining to Kingsman 2 must be treated with a grain of salt until official details are revealed. Matthew Vaughn is speculated to return to the director's chair for the upcoming sequel that is currently set to hit theaters in June 16, 2017.
