Derek Medina: Miami Man Reportedly Kills Wife & Posts Photo on Facebook (Video)

By

31-year-old Derek Medina incriminated himself on Facebook, posting a picture of his wife's blood-stained body on his page, and said that he killed her. Medina turned himself in to police, according to his arrest affidavit. He was charged with first degree murder.

His image of his wife stayed online for five hours, until Facebook was notified. It was then employees removed the image and disabled his page and also the account belonging to his deceased wife, the social network said.

"I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me," the post said.

Medina later told police that he and his wife, Jennifer Alfonso, had gotten into a fight. Medina says he got his gun and pointed it at Alfonso, 26, and she left the room, UPI reported. Alfonso returned to the bedroom to announce she was leaving him. Medina says he followed her, this time without the gun, and that she began punching him. He shot her in self-defense, he said.

He soon went to a police precinct and gave authorities his address. The couple's 10-year-old daughter was also still in the house, which is also somewhat curious; Jennifer Alfonso was just 26-year-old.

Medina posted a picture of the three having dinner together outdoors at a marina, just hours before he purportedly killed her.
