Camille Cosby Deposition Continues After Judge Dismissed Attempt To Delay Defamation Case

By

A federal judge in Massachusetts has decided to continue with Camille Cosby's deposition despite her attempt to delay the defamation case against Bill Cosby. On Monday, Camille appeared at the conference room of Marriott hotel in Massachusetts, and has spoken about her husband after a defamation case was filed by seven women, who claimed that the disgraced comedian drugged, sexually assaulted and defamed them by calling them liars.

During Monday's session, Camille's deposition lasted more than seven hours. However, Camille's actual testimony about the disgraced comedian only took two-and-a-half hours, PEOPLE reports. Joseph Cammarata, the plaintiffs' attorney claimed that Cosby's attorneys called the judge twice for rulings. A couple of times, they objected to questions claiming spousal privilege.

"I get the sense she didn't want to be there," Cammarata told reporters adding Camille appeared to be a reluctant witness and reserved.

Camille's lawyers filed an emergency motion on Saturday to delay her deposition scheduled for Monday. Lawyers claimed that they are concerned that Camille's deposition would create a media circus and threaten her personal safety, Yahoo reports. However, Camille's emergency motion was dismissed by U.S. District Judge Mark Mastroianni saying the deposition would proceed on the scheduled day. Attorneys of the seven women had also been alarmed claiming the claims were meritless.

"The Cosbys' last-minute filing is the latest in a series of increasingly brazen attempts to interfere with the deposition of Mrs. Cosby," the attorneys said in a filing. "The Cosbys should not be allowed to indefinitely delay Mrs. Cosby's deposition by repeatedly filing what is in substance the same motion, over and over again."

In December 2014, Tamara Green, a retired California attorney filed a federal lawsuit alleging Bill drugged and sexually assaulted her in 1969 or 1970. Six other women joined her in the lawsuit who asserted that the former "Ghost Dad" star sexually abused and called them liars for their claim, Huffington Post reported. The former "I Spy" actor is also facing charges for the first time in Pennsylvania after Andrea Constand claimed that Bill sexually assaulted her in 2005.

Camille deposition is yet to continue on March 14.
