Though there are still some Motorola handsets that are yet to receive the OS upgrade, the company is doubling its effort to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update as soon as possible. Its hardwork finally progressed recently after it rolled out the Marshmallow firmware to its Moto G (3rd Gen) handsets in Europe.

MobiPicker stated that a lot of Moto smartphones have already obtained the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update. The Marshmallow 6.0 has already reached Moto G (3rd Gen) in December, particularly units in Canada, India, and the United States. Finally, the Moto G (3rd Gen) Marshmallow update has been rolled out in Europe as well.

Users should keep in mind that this update is not the exact one that the 3rd Gen Moto G received in other regions. This new Marshmallow firmware update carries version number 24.41.33.en.EU. Meanwhile, the previously released update in India and the US came with version number 24.11.25.en.US. Nevertheless, it is unknown whether both the versions have differences or not.

When it comes with the installation process, International Business Times gave the step-by-step procedure.

First, an Android 6.0 Marshmallow download notification should appear on the Moto G's screen. Upon seeing the notification, users will have to tap "Download" button and then the "Restart and Install" option. Rebooting of the device will start automatically and an "Installing System Update" notice will appear when the installation starts. According to the site, the upgrading of the Moto G (3rd Gen) handsets will begin automatically.

Furthermore, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is also expected to bring new features and enhancements to the Moto G (3rd Gen) handsets.

Android Geeks noted that the Marshmallow software will bring greater control over app permissions, app standby that will help reduce battery drain, app links, expandable storage and "Do not disturb" mode. The Android 6.0 will also carry in an improved volume controls, Google Now on Tap with contextual search, Direct Share, and other interesting features. Motorola has also gotten rid of a few features with the update such as Ambient Display and Moto Migrate.

Meanwhile, for Moto G (Gen 3) users who won't receive the upgrade notification, they can manually check for the availability of the upgrade through going to the 'Settings' >> 'About phone' >> 'System updates' >> 'Check for Update'.
