"Switched At Birth" Season 5: Bay, Daphne’s mystery caller revealed, other issues resolved; Filming for new season underway

By

When "Switched at Birth" Season 5 airs, all the loose threads from last season's finale will be resolved. The premiere episode aptly titled "The Call" promises to answer what the urgent phone call Bay and Daphne received was about and which made them come back home after spending nearly a year in China.

In last season's finale, Bay and Daphne decided to go to China for a vacation. After 10 months, the two were seen settling in the Asian country, having jobs and learning the language. The season finale ended with the mysterious phone call. Viewers will have to wait a little longer for the cliffhanger to be resolved since "Switched at Birth" Season 5 is said to premiere this April yet.

Meanwhile, the cast and crew are apparently now busy with filming as shown in a picture that was posted on Twitter by EP Lizzy Weiss with the caption, "We are back. First day of filming #SwitchedatBirth Season 5." Ecumenical News reports that Weiss also revealed the titles of the first four episodes of "Switched at Birth" Season 5 as "The Call," "This Has to Do with Me," "Surprise" and "Relation of Lines and Colors."

In another interview, Weiss said that the events within the 10-month jump will be revealed. She further said that they decided to add a cliffhanger so the show will have something to jump off in the following season. Daphne's decision whether to return to school or not within the time span will be explained. What happened to Bay's parents during that time will also be revealed.

"Switched at Birth" Season 5 will also focus on first-time parents Toby and Lily and how they deal with baby Carlton says Master Herald. A lot of fans expect that John and Kathryn's marital troubles will be delved extensively. According to Weiss, they may even have additional time-jumps if necessary.

Weiss went on to explain that the 10-month stay of Bay and Daphne in China instead of the 6-week vacation they were thought to be having was necessary to justify how Daphne got her job and how Bay can speak a little Chinese reports Christian Today. These may impact their plans back home in the new season.

"Switched at Birth" Season 5 has no official release date but is expected to air at the newly rebranded Freeform this April. Tell us what you are excited about the most in the show's return on the section below.
