'Sense8' Season 2 Updates: EP J. Michael Straczynski shoots down filming rumors; Series likely to have more realistic August release date

By

"Sense8" Season 2 was initially believed to premiere on June 2016 by fans who based the date on Netflix's pattern of releasing its original series. If the latest rumors on the show are to be believed however, the season premiere will be pushed back to August.

Given the complexity of filming "Sense8", chances of starting filming on March to give fans a June 2016 release date is simply unrealistic. The cast and crew travelled to film in nine cities of eight different countries in Season 1. Inquisitr reports that it is so far the most expensive Netflix original series ever made.

Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos reveals that it will likely take $100million to $200million to make each season. He further claimed that the series was "every bit as big, if not bigger," than his films such as Jupiter Ascending and Cloud Atlas which cost $176million and $102million to make respectively.

Fans were thrilled with the news that "Sense8" Season 2 has already started filming based on casting calls via Facebook for extras who will be playing pedestrians and park goers according to Chicago Tribune. The post was soon removed however. Meanwhile, Ami Ameen who plays Capheus tweeted in December that they will start the new season in 10 days, which made many assume that pre-production is finished and shooting will start.

Another cast member, Tina Desai who plays Kala Dandekar, flew to Berlin after Christmas to shoot after she also tweeted that she was excited to start filming "Sense8" Season 2 reports Christian Today. EP J. Michael Straczynski, however, shot down the idea and explained that they merely did holiday footages.

Although "Sense8" has developed a loyal fan base, it took some time for Netflix to announce its renewal. Straczynski has admitted that they already have created a five year plan for the series since it is important for them to know which direction the show was heading.

Straczynski further revealed, "Should Netflix decide to do it, we already have the second season worked out in great detail. And then, we have rough notes for the next three years, beyond that."

Having revealed that there is a complete "Sense8" story waiting to be filmed, fans believe it is just a matter of time now before Netflix announces a release date. Many believe that the delay in the renewal announcement and this long wait for the release date are just ploys of Netflix to build anticipation for the second season.
