The HTC One M9 handsets in UK are now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Meanwhile, the One A9 devices under Sprint carrier has recently obtained Marshmallow 6.0.1.
According to Neurogadget, the HTC One M9 unlocked models in UK has started getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. It is expected to be followed by locked models if approved by the carriers.
The HTC UK posted on its Twitter account stating that the company will be rolling out the 6.0 Marshmallow update to its One M9 handsets, after the unlocked models from the US have received it. The One M9 flagship handset was released a year ago and this is the first necessary software upgrade that this device has received.
The Taiwanese tech company also updated its Sense UI, and Marshmallow brought new features, such as Doze Mode, Google Now on Tap, a new app permissions system and performance improvements.
Meanwhile, the HTC One A9, a mid-range HTC device that has arrived loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is now receiving the 6.0.1 Marshmallow update. This system upgrade has been sent to the unlocked version of the A9 and will be released also to devices sold by Sprint. The software version Sprint will release for the One A9 is 1.57.651.1.
TechnoBuffalo stated that upon upgrading to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, HTC One A9 owners will notice improved battery life. The update will also bring some enhancements to the device's camera features. The One A9 will also experience some system enhancements that would deliver greater performance and stability. HTC has also added Wi-Fi Calling functionality.
Nevertheless, the biggest enhancement that is expected by the users is the arrival of Android's new emoji. With the software upgrade bringing 184 characters, Android is now on par with iOS. The users are also expected not to see messages, tweets, emails, and other content with strange characters that can't be displayed.
International Business Times reported that Taiwanese smartphone-manufacturer had previously confirmed that Google's latest firmware would be released to its other devices. The lists include; HTC One M9, HTC One M8, HTC One M9+, HTC One E9, HTC One E9+, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820 and HTC Desire 816.
Since HTC One M9 devices are now receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, version 6.0.1 is expected to follow suit. Nonetheless, owners of the other aforementioned devices will have to wait for further roll out details.
