Los Angeles judge orders Hilton descendant to enter treatment program after violating probation

By

A Los Angeles judge ordered Tuesday, Jan. 26, for Conrad Hilton III, a descendant of Hilton hotel chain magnate Conrad Hilton, to enter a substance abuse treatment program for a minimum of 90 days. The order was in line with the 21-year-old's violation of probation and failure to pass his drug tests.

The younger brother of American socialites and celebrities Paris and Nicky Hilton was on probation and was required to render community service in 2015. The sentence was given after he caused a disruption at a British Airways flight from London to LA, ABC News reported the following day.

Aside from failing to pass the required drug tests, Hilton violated his probation by trespassing, not completing three treatment programs, and travelling outside the state of California without permission from his probation officers. U.S. Magistrate Judge Suzanne H. Segal denied the authorities' request for Hilton to be incarcerated after the violation. Instead, the judge ordered a new probation term of three years, My News LA. No dates were given as to when the 90-day substance abuse treatment program should begin.

Hilton was known for having had a series of trouble with the law in previous months, Daily Mail also reported. Apart from the British Airways incident, he was accused of leading a police officer on a high-speed chase in Cathedral City in August 2014. He allegedly crashed his BMW at the Interstate 10 near Palm Springs. He was accused of getting away from a state Fish and Game officer by speeding. The crash reportedly caused Hilton to suffer a broken hand after the chase.

Reports said the officers tried to stop him due to reckless driving, My News LA noted. He pleaded not guilty of the allegations the next month after the incident. The case is set for a settlement conference on March 2 at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
