Six individuals from Rochdale were accused of sexual exploitation, trafficking and rape of three girls who were still aged between fourteen and sixteen in the year 2004 until 2008.

Six men have been indicted with the trafficking, rape and sexual assault of three teenage girls as part of sexual exploitation inquiry in Rochdale, BBC reports. The charges are linked to sexual crimes claimed to be committed between 2004 and 2008 against three people who were still minors at the time.

Joshim Miah, 31, of Rochdale, is indicted for rape and trafficking a person within the UK for sexual exploitation. Also charged with rape are Mohammed Sadeer, 27, Naheem Akram, 39, both of Rochdale, and a man, who police say cannot be named for legal reasons. Ittefaq Yousaf, 25, has been charged with sexual assault and inciting a girl to participate in sexual activity. Incriminated with attempted rape is Arfan Iqbal, 25, also of Rochdale, the source mentioned.

The Guardian confirmed that six men have been respondents of child sexual exploitation as part of an ongoing investigation.

The source cited Greater Manchester Police Assistant Chief Constable Rob Potts said the recent legal action is one of the many cases initiated by Operation Doublet. The Operation Doublet is an operation that investigates child sexual exploitation in Rochdale, the news site added.

Potts was quoted by The Guardian saying "The sexual exploitation of children and young people is the absolute priority for Greater Manchester police and its partners."

Daily Mail also noted Potts mentioning the multi-agency Sunrise team, a multi-agency response Project Phoenix, local authorities, third sector organizations for the collective efforts "to safeguard vulnerable young people at risk of exploitation and relentlessly target those who would try to exploit them."

Up to the present, 83 people were arrested; fifteen have been under investigations while 25 people have been prosecuted.

The six offenders are scheduled to face the Bury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 21.
