Michelle Obama Death Threats: D.C. Cop Threatens First Lady

By

A D.C. police officer has been accused of telling fellow officers that he would shoot the First Lady, Michelle Obama and then showed them a picture of gun he said he would use to kill her. The police officer was one of the motor-cycle escorts of the first family in the Special Operations Division.

Gwendolyn Crump, D.C. police spokesman said, "We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments," as reported by the Washington Post.

The cop, who remains anonymous, has been moved to an administrative division as soon as the threat was reported.

Late Thursday, the Washington Post broke the story of the threats. Some of the cops co-workers, who also remain unnamed, suggest that the threat has so serious bearing and was made as a joke, albeit a very bad joke, but never the less nothing indicating that there was any legitimate harm to Michelle Obama. The Examiner suggests," the fact that this officer was not put on leave immediately suggests that his threat was not serious."

The police department's Internal Affairs Division, which is currently investigating the allegations, says that it immediately informed the Secret Service upon learning of the allegations so that the proper precautions can be taken.

Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan told the Associated Press, that matter is under investigation and the "appropriate follow-up steps" are sure to be taken.
