Rehtaeh Parsons, a 17-year-old Canadian girl died Sunday, following a suicide attempt last week by hanging herself, the Huffington Post reported. Her family said she had never recovered from an alleged rape by four teen age boys in in November 2011, which left her deeply depressed.
Gino Maraventano has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after police said after he admitted to stabbing his wife and 27-year-old son to death in Goodyear Arizona. Maraventano called 911 on Saturday, and told dispatchers, and telling investigators that he committed the murders four days before notifying police.
Joshua Hakken and his wife Sharyn were being held Wednesday at the Hillsborough County Jail, on charges of kidnapping their two young sons and fleeing by boat to Cuba. They were handed over by Cuban authorities to the United States. They were returned to their maternal grandparents, who have the official custody, authorities said. Joshua Hakken also was charged with false imprisonment. His bond was set at $154,000. No bond information was listed for Sharyn Hakken, news reports said.
Authorities said 20-year-old student Dylan Quick went on a building-to-building stabbing spree attack, before being captured. They said he randomly attacked unsuspected students with a razor-type knife at a Texas community college, many of whom were stabbed in the face and neck. He was charged Tuesday night with three counts of aggravated assault. The Harris County Sheriff's Office also said that Quick told them he fantasized about stabbing people to death since elementary school, and planned the attack for a while. Two people remain in critical condition.
