With few days left for the NBA trade deadline the Sacramento Kings have made their move by trading DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans.  The Kings on the other hand will receive Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway and Tyreke Evans.

This will be a 2017 first and second round pick in exchange for DeMarcus and Omri Casspi. It turns out that DeMarcus's ability to be the future franchise centerpiece for the Sacramento Kings has drawn to an end as per the Bleacher Report.

Sources have stated that this was due to the players "uneven behavior," apparently DeMarcus's temperament was softened to become a franchise pillar. As for DeMarcus he preferred to stay with the Sacramento's for a long term despite the trade rumors he was involved in over the past year.

The NBA superstar certainly wanted his legacy to end with the Sacramento Kings so that his jersey could be in the support for the team. The player also had a rough time right from fighting with coaches, requesting a trade in 2016 and eventually making peace with the Kings organization as per Sporting News.

Looking at it from the Pelicans standpoint, acquiring DeMarcus to pair up with Anthony Davis could be an interesting move for them. DeMarcus signed a four year deal before the 2014-15 season, which was almost worth $66 million. The Pelicans would definitely want assurances from the star regarding a contract extension before the trade.

Davis and DeMarcus are more likely to make a good team together, with DeMarcus's potential and skills the Pelicans could rank among the NBA's most compelling teams as the post season approaches. Following the trade news Sam Amick took to social media stating that this was a culture move for the Sacramento Kings. DeMarcus in an interview also stated that he likes in in New Orleans and he has been there a lot when he grew up.
