A Congressional Cannabis Caucus has been formed recently. This is a group of federal lawmakers that are working on liberalizing the nation's drug laws.

Washington Examiner reported that two Republicans and two Democrats formed a group legalizing marijuana at a certain level. He four lawmakers have called the group the Congressional Cannabis Caucus.

The caucus will be a forum to discuss on the issue about legalizing marijuana in the nation. The goal of the lawmakers in this caucus is to adjust the banking laws especially in forcing legal marijuana growers and dealers to deal with cash only.

Additionally, they also wanted to request federal laws to not block any further cannabis researches in the future. The Congressional cannabis Caucus also wanted to have a lower classification of cannabis in the controlled-substance list.

According to Alaska Public Media, Congressman Don Young is part of the team and he does not smoke marijuana. He wants to help change the federal laws in order for the marijuana growers to do business. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, D-Oregon is also part of the group and wants to make the federal tax code fair to all cannabis businesses.

Blumenauer has been working on legalizing marijuana since the 1970's. Another part of the congressional Cannabis Caucus is Rep. Dana Rohrabaher and is representing Orange County. He is working on preaching about how medical marijuana is beneficial to people.

As of this time, there is no clarity yet on how many will join in the Congressional Cannabis Caucus. The four lawmakers are working on the fair cannabis legalization. However, there are already more states voting to legalize marijuana they just need to work more especially with the new administration. Marihuana News & Blog reported that the formation of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus is another way to move forward and reform cannabis policy at a federal level.
