BlackBerry Priv Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Beta Test Opens Today; Official Release Date Set?

BlackBerry Priv has officially began to be opened for Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow beta test program. BlackBerry is reported to have settled with the official release date of the software on the device.

BlackBerry Priv units are officially entering the beta test zone of Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, pushing further to the release date. Although there has been no exact date revealed by the OEM, BlackBerry is expected to bring on the table Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update by the end of April.

According to a report, Canada native BlackBerry opened the beta test program of Marshmallow for the device earlier today so that it will be able to release the official build this month. Beta tests are usually conducted to determine the performance of the software with the device. As for BlackBerry, the company desired to catapult Priv to the pedestal with Marshmallow, knowing the stiff competition in the Android department.

The program is open but limited to anyone who wish to get Marshmallow ahead of the official release. Nevertheless, one has to report to the company as to the subscriber's experience with the software so that engineering teams behind the device manufacturer will be able to analyze trends and improve concurrent system when deemed necessary.

The Marshmallow beta program of BlackBerry is aimed at bringing quality performance, stability and astounding experience with Android for the company. Bug reporter will also be available for participants to detail issues on certain areas they encounter. Hence, participants are expected to be "fault-tolerant" in case, although no disruptions can be forecast.

On top of Marshmallow's mainstay features and enhancements, BlackBerry offers Marshmallow that protects double privacy of the device. Marshmallow's mainstay features include Doze, Now on Tap, improved app permissions, auto-back up improvements, efficient settings menu and many others.

BlackBerry vowed to roll out Android security update first before Marshmallow. Priv is currently running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
