Five children in Northern Cape were found dead inside an unused refrigerator in Cape Town after an incident ensued while they were playing causing their death. Northern Cape police said that they do not suspect foul play in the scene.

As reported by Eyewitness News, five cousins between the ages of three and seven choked to death in Kakamas. The authorities opened an inquest docket after the children were found by their grandmother, dead inside a freezer yesterday.

According to police spokeswoman Dimakatso Mooi, they suspect that the children were playing inside when the freezer accidentally locked, trapping the children inside.

"The grandmother of the children found them all suffocated inside an old freezer in their yard.", Mooi stated. "We do not suspect any foul play at this stage. It is believed the kids were playing when the deep freezer accidentally locked," reports Yahoo News.

The children were found by their grandmother sometime around 6pm in the agricultural land of Kakamas of Northern Cape. According to Metro, it is unclear whether the freezer was turned on around the time the children were inside.

The recent death of the five children is not the first case of death this week while playing inside an unused instrument in Africa. Earlier this week, four toddlers were also trapped inside an unused car in Clermont, West of Durban.

The four toddlers were allegedly playing inside the unused car when it accidentally locked trapping them inside. The car eventually heated up, and the kids were no longer able to escape and get outside.

All four of them were eventually found, and were rushed to the hospital. However, two of them did not survive the incident while the other two are still believed to be in critical condition.
