'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is an upcoming science-fiction and adventure film intended as the sequel to the 2014 hit of the same name. Director James Gunn recently completed the final draft of the screenplay. He also admitted that he wanted the late musician David Bowie to make a possible cameo.

According to Comic Book Resources, writer and director James Gunn completed the final draft for his upcoming film and announced it via his Facebook page. His post showed the script's cover and was captioned, "Coming to you presently, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista (Batista), Michael Rooker, Sean Gunn, Vin Diesel." Bradley Cooper and Karen Gillian are also returning for the sequel but they weren't tagged in the post since they were reportedly not on Facebook.

Another article by the Daily News reported that Gunn revealed that although he is bound to make minor alterations to the script while they pursue development, the screenplay he posted was "essentially the final draft". The 45-year old filmmaker also served as director and writer in the first film and even voiced Baby Groot as well as portrayed a Maskless Sakaaran.

Gunn is also known for his work in previous films such as the 2010 dark comedy superhero film, 'Super', as well as the science-fiction comedy-horror film 'Slither' released in 2006. He was also nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Best Screenplay for 'Dawn of the Dead'.

According to Billboard, Gunn recently revealed that he would have wanted to work with legendary music icon David Bowie on 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2'. The musician, who passed away last January 10, was open for a cameo on the upcoming sequel.

Gunn admitted, "Just a very short while ago [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie's name... I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn't doing well. We heard back that he was okay and it could potentially happen."

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' is an upcoming follow-up to 2014's superhero film of the same name. It is scheduled to premiere on May 5, 2017 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) Phase Three. It is currently in pre-production and may begin filming in early 2016.
