Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge models are officially confirmed to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow build before January comes to an end. 11 Galaxy S6 Edge models will get the software update with its new features and enhancements.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones is now in development stage and is set to be officially released this month. Google and Samsung are now preparing the Marshmallow software and the device's overall system to be integrated.

Galaxy S6 Edge will begin the testing phase wherein selected devices will be tried to evaluate the performance of the over-the-air (OTA) release. Most devices are currently running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Of the 11 models of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, a total of 1065 firmware updates have been recorded as of this writing.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is bringing Google Now on Tap, power saver Doze, improved app permissions, revamped app drawer, support for fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C and Android Pay, greater volume controls, and more.

Apps Permissions provides users better control over permissions. Users are given the option to allow or deny permissions. It is significant to take note that Permissions are demanded the first time users try to use a feature, not at the point of installation.

App drawer gets an overhauled design. Horizontal scrolling is ditched over vertical scrolling with recently used apps on top of the menu.
