HTC One M8 Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

By

HTC One M8 smartphones are getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update via custom ROM. Resurrection Remix has been released as an unofficial build based on Android with quite a number of new features.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is coming to HTC One M8 devices by manually installing the custom ROM Resurrection Remix crafted by independent software developers. The custom ROM, named after the developers team, will offer One M8 a host of Marshmallow's native features on top of the ones originally made by the team that fare well with the official build.

Marshmallow also brings in features made by CyanogenMod for its software counterpart for the latest Android software CM 13.

HTC One M8 will receive Resurrection Remix with the following features:

  • New clock color options
  • Toast and list view animation
  • Network traffic monitor
  • Tweaks to improve battery life and performance
  • CyanogenMod CM13 features
  • Battery mods
  • New lock-screen short-cuts

Before installing the Resurrection Remix ROM to One M8, here's a few things to remember:

1. Make sure the One M8 device to be upgraded is the GSM model only. Trying the software to other device might brick it due to compatibility issues.

2. Installing the ROM will make the device warranty void. By restoring the device in its original state, warranty can be continued.

3. Make sure the device is rooted.

4. Clean up storage space to accommodate the upgrade.

5. Back up all necessary data using Clockwork Mod (CWM) or TWRP.

6. Install first the USB driver to the PC.

7. Make sure device is charged up to at least 80 percent to prevent power interruption.

To begin the process, here's a good way to go:

1. Download the Resurrection Remix Marshmallow ROM and Google Apps Package.

2. Save it on a PC.

3. Connect phone to PC using a cable.

4. Copy the downloaded files from PC to phone.

5. Disconnect phone and shut it down.

6. Boot into recovery mode by simultaneously press holding volume up, home and power buttons.

7. Perform a CWM/TWRP backup of your current software.

8. Perform wipe data tasks.

9. Install zip from sdcard.

10. Confirm flashing process.

11. Go to main recovery menu.

12. Restart device.

Wait until the process is confirmed finished.
